First Sortie with the SK 40
Tussenhausen-Mattsies, Germany – 29 August 2025
Grob Aircraft SE is proud to announce a major milestone in Sweden: pilot students at the Swedish Air Force Flight School in Linköping have successfully completed their first flying hours on the SK 40 (locally designated Grob G 120TP).
The SK 40 is a modern, two-seat turboprop trainer equipped with an autopilot, now officially in service with the Swedish Air Force. It replaces the legendary SK 60, which has served generations of Swedish pilots for decades. With its advanced systems, responsive handling, and proven reliability, the SK 40 will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of military aviators.
The introduction of the SK 40 into Sweden’s training system has been made possible through the close cooperation of the Swedish Air Force and FMV – Försvarets materielverk. This milestone highlights the importance of innovation, partnership, and excellence in ensuring that air forces are ready for the challenges of tomorrow.
