Headquartered in Tussenhausen-Mattsies, Germany, Grob Aircraft enters a new era as a proud member of the Helsing group. As a wholly owned subsidiary of Helsing, we are building on over five decades of aviation excellence to help shape the future of aerospace innovation.

Since 1971, Grob Aircraft has been one of the world’s most experienced manufacturers of composite aircraft. With more than 3,500 aircraft delivered and over seven million flight hours logged across five continents, our legacy spans pioneering gliders, record-breaking high-altitude platforms, and today’s advanced training and special mission aircraft.

Our journey began with the licensed production of 200 CIRRUS gliders, followed by the development of our own ASTIR series. We quickly demonstrated our innovative spirit with the introduction of the TWIN III SL, one of the earliest self-launching gliders.

In the 1980s, Grob achieved German and FAA certification for the G 109—the world’s first serially produced composite motor glider. This milestone marked the beginning of a new chapter in composite technology. Later that decade, we developed the G 520 Egrett / Strato 1, a high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft that set five world records. The Strato 2C pushed boundaries even further, designed to reach altitudes of 78,800 feet (24,000 meters) with an endurance of up to 48 hours.
